Description mattias.lundahl 2024-11-01 14:10:57 UTC
SUMMARY
I did a fresh install of Neon User from the ISO dated 20241027. After the installation completed I rebooted, but I just get a black screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download ISO from 20241027
2. Install using live environment
3. Reboot

OBSERVED RESULT
After the computer manufacturer's logo shows, I just get a black screen and trying to switch to the TTYs using for instance Ctrl-Alt-F3 doesn't do anything

EXPECTED RESULT
The system should boot

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 6.8
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.7.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I tried booting into the live environment again and look at the computer's internal SSD. Under /boot/efi, there are no files. There are files under /boot/grub though.
Comment 1 mattias.lundahl 2024-11-03 11:49:00 UTC
I tried again today with the new ISO with date 2024-11-03, and I still only get a black screen when I reboot after running the installation. I should add that I have preserved the /etc/fstab file from a previous installation, and then I had a partition mounted at /boot/efi. I suspect that the fact there are no files under /boot/efi in this new installation might be the root cause of my issue.
