SUMMARY

Maybe you chould have the loading animation, but in red to shpow that the write buffer is syncing for the disk. this could warn users that the write operation has not completred yet. you could also have have the same animation and a wrning in the drive applets.

We have different icons for mounted and unmounted already. 

If a device is mounted it always needs syncing before unplugging to avoid data loss, there's no simple "write buffer" that can be used.
