Description nethshanperis 2024-10-28 06:11:46 UTC
SUMMARY
Desktop goes into edit mode for no reason when using three finger touchscreen gestures when switching desktops, going into the overview and the grid view with multiple desktops. The desktop highlight option seems to be bugged as a result as well when switching back to the touchpad. Currently I have 4 virtual desktops created.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create 4 desktops (not sure if this number is important)
2. Switch between them with touchscreen gestures, enter into overview mode and from there grid view and vice versa

OBSERVED RESULT
There are two results observed:
1. Desktop goes into edit mode for no reason
2. Sometimes the desktop highlight box seems to retain when switching back to the touchpad even when I am not holding down left click (regular hold in a touchpad)

EXPECTED RESULT
None of the observed results.

This was supposed to be fixed in Bug 482222.

Looks like we fixed the case where it was causing inappropriate drags, but not the one where it enters edit mode. We'll track that here.

sure but does that mean i should make another bug report for the inappropriate drags? because that isnt fixed in 6.2.2 even though, according to my understanding, it was fixed in 6.1.

Hmm, if it's literally the exact same issue, we should re-open Bug 482222.

i saw the attached video and it appears to be the case on my end as well but it happens less frequently to me.

I've merged this into the issue tracking the edit mode thing.

For the issue with drags, looks like it also requires Qt 6.8.0, which you don't have. Hopefully that will be the missing piece.
