*** *** SUMMARY If you are dragging an image for a copy or move from an album, a hold-over on the root album shows a red-crossed circle (no copy or move permitted), but that collapses the tree where there is no reason for that to happen (its not possible to benefit from closing the tree in a copy/move op if you cannot copy or move to the root 'Albums' folder (if that exists- it may be logical only). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. From any subfolder, select a file in thumbnail view, and click-hold/drag it to the root (Albums) entry in the tree 2. The arrow icon will change to a red/crossed circle indicating no-op possible 3. A hold there for a brief time will fully collapse the tree OBSERVED RESULT As stated in step 3, the tree collapses, but it doesnt show an indication that there are subdirectories. A hold over that position may expand the tree again, but it may require a move of the pointer away, and back to expand the tree, and then again, only with a hold time. A release/cancel will shift focus of thumbnail source to the root, where there is no content. EXPECTED RESULT There is no benefit to collapsing the tree fully, since there is no possibility to copy or move to that root folder anyway, and you cannot navigate a tree that isnt shown. Perhaps it could compress to only root folders for a navigation 'jump', but it should not fully collapse the tree. Hi, 1/ Root album collapses side effect is confirmed. 2/ Copy/move to the root isnt permitted => normal behavior. Gilles Caulier
Yes, but it is possible that the root album is collapsed and you want to expand it when copying to a sub-album. This behavior is then desired. Such things always have two sides and for me it is not a bug. Maik
There is no reason the core root 'Albums' folder should ever be fully collapsed. In that state, you have no indication there are sub-folders. That is both inconsistent with the conventions for effectively all tree-based applications, and within Digikam itself. Im not talking about the root content folder, to which you can actually copy/move to/from. Im talking about the parent root node. That cannot be collapsed via a mouse click (right click etc)- only by a drag-over/hold. This is again inconsistent with convention and with Digikam itself. A right click on any normal node shows window with options like expand/collapse tree. Not the root node- it behaves inconsistently,
The album root node does not have a context menu, but can actually be expanded and collapsed with a double click. Maik
