Description David S 2024-10-14 17:11:38 UTC
SUMMARY
Wifi Connection is not functional when resuming the first item from suspend. The work-around seems to be suspend again and quickly resume. This is never an issue from boot, only after suspend. Airplane mode or shutting off wifi does not fix the issue, only a reboot or suspending and resuming does. GUI freezes on the "Configuring Interface" step.

I am using Intel Alder Lake Wifi

System Specs:
Lenovo T16 Laptop
Core i7 1260P
OpenSuse Tumbleweed running KDE under Wayland

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log into KDE and allow the system to sleep, manually suspend, close the laptop lid etc
2. Resume the machine
3. Wifi will not conenct, wired connections are fine

OBSERVED RESULT
No wifi connections function after resuming from sleep/suspend

EXPECTED RESULT
Wifi reconnects after system resume

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: OpenSuse Tumbleweed
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.7.0
Qt Version: 6.7.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I believe this started happening about 2 weeks ago after one of the kernel updates.

Some more details on this. It looks like it only happens if I use S3 sleep state vs Suspend-To-Idle. This is a bios setting I can adjust on the laptop. I have used S3 in the past as I found it better with battery life.
