I too have this bug on Papirus. I understand the icons were made symbolic to improve consistency and default standards but it'd be nice if we had option to select either symbolic or the default simple and colourful icons that Papirus is known for. Although this is a subjective opinion, I feel that the symbolic black and white for Papirus lessens the quality of the application menu. And having no choice in the matter to switch to the previous colourful version is undesirable I feel.

I've upgraded the system with the latest KDE Plasma updates, seems that it's impossible to enter the Wayland session for now.

I enter the password, I can see the splashscreen spinning, I get kicked back to sddm. I can enter the x11 session instead.

...I don't even know how in the world I ended up here since I was filing a new bug, sorry for the inconvenience.

It's okay. I'm sure someone will remove your comment and it could help get exposure of this bug more if possible.

The monochrome style is intentional in Plasma 6.2; the bug here is that the icon theme you're using is missing some monochrome icons (and also apparently its monochrome icons aren't color-changing correctly). I'm afraid there's no way around this due to the way icon themes work. You'll need to report this to the authors of the icon themes you're using and ask them to fix the color-changing-ness of their monochrome icons and add some more.
