SUMMARY Snap backend is enabled on my neon unstable (Snap packages are included in the search results), but "Snap" checkbox is greyed out and unchecked in Settings page. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open Discover 2. click on "Settings" in the left side 3. OBSERVED RESULT "Snap" checkbox is greyed out and unchecked EXPECTED RESULT "Snap" checkbox should not be greyed out and it should reflect the state of snap backend correctly SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.7.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 Graphics Platform: Wayland
I verified this behavior on KDE Neon Testing In Discover settings, the snap checkbox was greyed out Snaps show up in the Discover search results, but the snapd package is shown as not installed. The settings don't show anything for Missing Backends The snapd package was installed according to apt (snapd/noble-updates 2.66.1+24.04) I could not replicate the problem in Kubuntu 24.04. The snapd package is shown as installed in Discover, and the checkbox is checked (but greyed out). I saw similar behavior in Kubuntu 24.10 (Discover 6.1.5) Both snap and flatpak were unchecked and greyed out. There is no other source for software. Nothing was set to default. snapd *was* correctly listed as installed in discover, as was flatpak apt shows both flatpak and snapd installed ??? This looks like a packaging issue, moving this to the Neon group.
Nevermind the comment about Neon packaging, I meant to remove that.
Same thing in Discover 6.4.5. I'm running kubuntu 25.10. I have issues only with snap though. Flatpak checkbox works fine.
