Description Paul Sadauskas 2024-10-11 20:57:39 UTC
SUMMARY

Spectacle's settings dialog has options for what do to after taking a screenshot. In my case, I have "Save file to default folder" checked, and "Copy image to clipboard" selected.

When I press the shortcut key to take a screenshot of a region and select the region, the toolbar appears with "Save", "Copy", etc... These buttons do exactly what they say, and nothing more. Eg, if I click "Copy", the file does not get saved according to the setting.

To do both, I have to press "Enter" on my keyboard, which isn't an obvious thing that will happen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable the settings to automatically save the screenshot and copy to clipboard
2. Take a region screenshot
3. Click "Copy"

OBSERVED RESULT

File is not saved.

EXPECTED RESULT

File should be saved, as specified by the settings.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Perhaps this is a separate bug, but it would be nice if there was an additional button on the toolbar to "Annotate". Clicking either "Save" or "Copy" pops up a KDE notification with an "Annotate" button that opens the screenshot in a separate window for further annotations. It would be nice if there were a way to do this directly from the screenshot region toolbar. I personally find the separate annotate window more intuitive and easier to use than the toolbar. It also allows me to screenshot things near the edges of my monitor, and then drag the annotate window to a more central location.
