Clarification: It's the "places" panel in the sidebar that has white text on light gray background I tested this in a Ubuntu 24.10 VM with Gnome 47 using the default theme. I'm not seeing the problem you see. Installed Dolphin The Places area looks as I'd expect with black text on the grey background I noticed that from the Ubuntu App Store, the version of Dolphin installed is 23.08.4, but you have reported having 24.08.1. We need more information in order to narrow down the bug. Could you please let us know: 1. How did you install Dolphin? 2. Have you changed anything in Gnome - Settings - Appearance? (If so, what) 3. Have you changed any settings in Dolphin or installed any services from the Configure menu? Thanks.
Created attachment 174972 [details] Screenshot From 2024-10-17 22-00-05.png 1 - I installed it through the Ubuntu Software Center, Deb version (24.08.1). 2 - I'm using Ubuntu 24.10, Dark Mode, Xorg. 3 - I didn't change anything fundamental in my setup. Note: Problem solved after receiving your message I uninstalled the DEB version and installed the Flathub 24.08.2 version (Deposited in the Software Store, 8 days ago. The previous version was 23.08.4) and now everything is working, including the Dolphin window appearing in Dark Mode. Thanks for the additional information. I'm glad to hear you have things working now. Previously I had installed the snap version of Dolphin I re-tested with the deb version (24.08.1) using Dark Mode and *was* able to reproduce the issue. Note: I had to use Wayland, because the X11 session wouldn't load, for whatever reason. It kept reverting to the login screen. The compositor shouldn't matter This looks like an issue with how Ubuntu handles QT apps in the distro. If you would like them to fix it, I recommend reporting the issue to Ubuntu.
