Hello, The report section allows users to visualize transactions that have been previously filtered, as detailed in the "other filters" field. However, there is currently no way to add filters manually. Filtering by transaction types helps exclude certain transactions from the report, such as grouped and tracked transactions (which are transactions that are combined as parts of a whole, like a project) and transfers. Use case: I need to exclude from the report any transactions that should be subject to depreciation, such as large expenses like buying a house or a car. In these cases, the ideal solution would be to add a property to the relevant categories and then filter out any transactions belonging to those categories. Issue: The goal is to sort categories by property and then open all transactions from categories without that property. However, this only works for first-level categories. Solution: Allowing users to _write_ custom filters would provide easy access to filtering by categories and properties. In this case, the ability to save the filter would be essential. Workaround: While it is currently possible to exclude those transactions using alternative methods, there are downsides: - Creating a first-level category called "Exclude" would be the easiest solution, but it separates all transactions from more relevant first-level categories (e.g., "House" and "Transport"/"Car" for the previous examples). - Grouping any of those transactions could work better, but it does not make much sense since this issue concerns isolated transactions. When needing to exclude one transaction, it would require grouping it with another transaction and then ungrouping the second one. NB: Skrooge is excellent, by the way! I love it—thank you for all your hard work! I also tried Homebank and KMyMoney, but Skrooge is clearly the best when it comes to handling 5,000 transaction imports and semi-automated processes, with the valuable ability to verify automated tasks.
Hi, When you have a report open, if you open another tab (category, payee) and select some lines, then you can filter your report on selected items in other tabs. (See "Other filters" at the bottom right of the report). Did you try it ? Is it covering your need ?
Hi, Thank you for your answer. I tried, but it does not cover my need as I can't select "all categories but the ones with the [property] == [value]". I thought about using the search engine to select transaction with specific criterias, but again I can't select "transactions from categories with no [property] == [value]". I figured tonight that it may be easier to use suffixes for categories names that I need to exclude, then using search engine to select "transactions from categories with names not ending with [suffix]". I'll try this asap.
After test, I confirm that using categories with a suffix works perfectly. Then it gets mandatory to use a search template ("every transaction in categories named with that suffix") to have the proper filter loaded in the Report window. One useful thing would be to be able to save the filter so it stays available in the Report window. That way, it would be possible to select transactions based on what you want to visualize, and to just check the saved filter in order to exclude categories with the suffix.
Hi, You can already do that. You just have to: - Create a search from "Search and Treat". - Select it - Open your report in a new tab - Click the check box corresponding to the selected search in "Other filters"
