Description: When trying to launch cloud gaming on Plasma KDE 6.1.5 in Arch Linux, the keyboard is locked, which makes it impossible to continue using the system. The keyboard stops responding to keystrokes, and switching to the English layout does not help solve the problem. It is important to note that there are no such problems in the Gnome graphics environment, and cloud gaming works without a keyboard lock. Steps for playback: Install and run Plasma KDE 6.1.5 on Arch Linux. Open a web browser [specify the browser you are using and its version] and go to the site https://play.geforcenow.com . Try to launch any game through the GeForce Now cloud service using the client https://github.com/hmlendea/gfn-electron/releases [specify the client version]. Observe the keyboard lock, in which keystrokes are not registered by the system. Try switching to the English keyboard layout. Make sure that the problem persists and the keyboard remains locked. Repeat steps 2-6 in the Gnome graphical environment [specify the Gnome version] and make sure that the keyboard lock does not occur. Expected result: The keyboard should continue to function normally when launching cloud gaming, allowing the user to interact with the system and games, regardless of the graphics environment used. The actual result: In the Plasma KDE 6.1.5 graphical environment on Arch Linux, the keyboard locks and stops responding to keystrokes, which makes it impossible to continue using the system. In the Gnome graphical environment, keyboard locking does not occur, and cloud gaming works without problems. Priority: High Notes: The problem is reproduced both when using the web version of the GeForce Now service and when running through the gfn-electron client. Additional testing on other versions of Plasma KDE is needed to determine the scale of the problem. You should examine the differences between the Plasma KDE and Gnome graphical environments to identify potential causes of keyboard blocking.
Because of this terrible problem that persists since plasma 5, you are losing people, people are switching to alternative graphical environments! People love Plasma, but they love cloud gaming even more, and they want everything to work!
I'm not able to reproduce this on Plasma 6.1.5 (Solus) I was able to log into play.geforcenow.com with a browser as well as the AppImage, and load one of the games I own I was still able to use my keyboard with Firefox, and other applications as normal Pressing either "f" or the meta key allowed me to access the desktop outside of the game Browser: Google Chrome (Version 127.0.6533.88 (Official Build) (64-bit)) GeForce Now AppImage v2.1.2 In order for us to try to help pinpoint what the root cause is, we'll need some system logs. 1. Start up a game with GeForce Now to reproduce the problem, note the time 2. Shut down GeForce using your mouse (or recover the way you have been) 3. Save the system logs from just before you started GeForce Now to a file. Substitute the correct date and time in the following command: sudo journalctl --since "2024-10-17 13:00:00 > system_logs_1day.txt 4. Upload the file from journalctl to this bug report. Thanks.
Also WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 google-chrome 2> someLog and then reproducing
