Description matthew 2024-10-03 19:23:31 UTC
SUMMARY

The update released via the Google Play Store, v1.32.4, on 2024-09-28 no longer works correctly.

I discovered the issue when attempting to share via KDE Connect to my computer, and received a system warning indicating that the app was crashing repeatedly. Any attempt to open the application to check settings also caused it to crash.

I uninstalled and re-installed the application, and this allows it to open and identify computers on the network running KDE Connect and/or GSConnect. You can select those computers and initiate a pair request. However, on completion of pairing, KDE Connect on the Android device initially displays a message that the requested device is not reachable, and then crashes and exhibits the behavior from the previous paragraph.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install the most recent version of KDE Connect via the Google Play Store (currently 1.32.4)
2. Open KDE Connect on the Android device
3. Identify and select a computer to pair with, and complete the pairing process on the designated computer

OBSERVED RESULT

KDE Connect on the Android device crashes and will not open successfully going forward unless the storage is cleared. However, doing this brings you back to step 3 in the reproduce case, which takes you back to the issue.

The device shows up on the Linux computer as disconnected.

EXPECTED RESULT

KDE Connect on the Android device connects successfully to the Linux device, and allows configuring how interactions with the computer may be performed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
