ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Nate Graham 2024-10-03 18:15:39 UTC
What happens specifically? What does it do or say instead of taking a screenshot?

If you run `spectacle` in a terminal window and then try to use it to take a screenshot, what does the output in the terminal window say?
Comment 2 Marco 2024-10-03 19:41:52 UTC
I run it from the GUI and it said " Could not take a screenshot, please
report the bug here..."

I am surprised that it doesn't fill the form with all the details you need.

I hope that this helps.

Marco

What do I type? I almost never use the terminal.

Thanks. So I gather you're not using Plasma as the desktop environment or KWin as the window manager, right? What desktop environment and window manager are you using?

Did you install Spectacle intentionally after installing the rest of the system?
Comment 8 Marco 2024-10-04 00:14:15 UTC
I simply wanted to take screenshots on a Raspberry PI running Debian

I suspect you are using Raspberry Pi OS/Debian 12 and Spectacle 22.12.3. Is that true?

Comment 12 Noah Davis 2024-10-06 18:23:07 UTC
In any case, version 22.12.3 is no longer supported, but are you using a desktop environment other than KDE Plasma such as GNOME? If so, it is already known that Spectacle does not work with GNOME on Wayland. Newer versions of Spectacle have a warning message.
Comment 13 Marco 2024-10-06 20:59:48 UTC
That is what is loaded by RPi when looking for a screen capture
   application.
You may want to update their registry.

We can't actually do that. Debian manages the registry and Debian Stable (the version Raspberry Pi OS is based on) is only updated every 2 years.
