I'm on a Google Pixel 8, and the most recent update (to version 1.32.4) from the Play Store also causes the app to crash immediately after opening for me.

a stack trace from the exception causing the crash on startup

I'm getting this error:
java.lang.SecurityException: Settings key: <enabled_input_methods> is only readable to apps with targetSdkVersion lower than or equal to: 33

Also crashing on Galaxy Node 24 Ultra after security upgrade S928USQS3AXHF. Tried clearing the cache and data, it "works" until it gets paired again.

It appears that a new version with this crash fixed has been released already (a couple hours ago), it probably just needs some time to propagate through the Play Store...

I will not let this go without a reply: This is really not nice behavior. Please try to be more patient and understanding towards the makers of the excellent (open source and free!) software that you (probably) enjoy using.

BTW there's no such thing as "Android A52", you probably meant Samsung Galaxy A52, running Android.

I'm experiencing the same issue.
Three dif android devices, two had auto-updated and kdeconnect crashes when trying to open.
Using f-droid one device was able to install v1.32.2 and it seems to work OK
Another device received v1.32.3 also using f-droid and it crashes
v1.32.4 from google play also crashes
With 1.32.3 and 1.32.4 the app will function just enough to pair another device but the moment the pair is accepted the app will crash and not open again.
Comment 7 edward.lara.lara 2024-10-02 17:57:27 UTC
Sorry, I missed to mention the version I am running: 1.32.4. OK, the commit pointed in the other comment is for 1.34.5.
Comment 8 Filip 2024-10-02 18:45:11 UTC
Looks like it's fixed, just wait for the release and update. If you still have issues after the update you can reopen it.

this issue is not fixed
Comment 10 torokati44 2024-10-02 19:57:20 UTC
It is. The fixed release just haven't reached you yet though the app stores, but it's probably on its way already.
Comment 11 Matej 2024-10-02 21:21:33 UTC
I am sorry. Yes. I use Samsung Galaxy A52.
Android version is Android 14.
Issues starts after Android restart.
I am sorry for non-gracious form of communication.
My update of KDE Connect was from Google Play too.
The same bug as from others described.

While you will wait on next update on Google Play Store with repair, you can use temporary solution. Uninstall KDE conect and install older version. For example version 1.32.2.
Older version you can download for example here
