SUMMARY
If you hold the left mouse button and movie it around, then press right mouse button, it resets the selection and places its starting point at the top left corner of the screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Hold left mouse button
2. Move the pointer
3. Press right mouse button whilst still moving

OBSERVED RESULT
The desktop selection gets reset and gets its starting point at the top left corner of the screen.

EXPECTED RESULT
The selection to be deactivated.

…And now I no longer can! This appears to be fixed for Plasma 6.5.
