Description Eugene Savitsky 2024-09-29 16:34:31 UTC
Installed openSUSE Tumbleweed on a modern notebook and was upset the fingerprint scanner did not worked.
OK, found a workaround and got it to work, in KDE user settings added fingers recognition and then realized that it won't work on login screen, since no support for it is provided (the text on user page clearly says it). And I couldn't find such a feature request as well.

FEATURE REQUEST
Being able to logging into KDE with a fingerprint scanner.

Hello, thanks for reaching us.👋
Unfortunately we don't host code for login manager, but don't worry I will fill out future request for you.

Thanks
Daniel

I have read, that SDDM is not part of KDE, but is there plans to implement own version?

Not being able to login with fingerprint in late 2024 is very frustrating. With Gnome you can do it...
