Description agapp11@hotmail.com 2024-09-29 03:19:20 UTC
SUMMARY
Attempting to access a large project from network share that is mounted via fstab, results in kdenlive freezing and becoming unresponsive

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up a SAMBA share with ubuntu server
2. save all the assets and .kdenlive file to the samba share
3. Attempt to access the .kdenlive file from samba share

OBSERVED RESULT
If it is a long video with many assets (over 90 in my case), kdenlive freezes during the "building timeline" message even though it can load the timeline. Leaving kdenilve for about an hour will result in the timeline eventually loading with all the assets, but the program is unusuable as it keeps freezing. There are no permission issues with the share, since other programs (like OBS), sonarr/radarr/etc are able to write to it.

Attempting to launch through the terminal shows that kdenlive gets stuck at "getting thumbnail -1 x -1".

The same video saved locally on a non-network share is able to load quickly with no issues.

EXPECTED RESULT

Working from a mounted network share should work the same as working locally.
