Sounds like a driver issue. Maybe your laptop is not supported by Linux yet.
But to rule KDE out does it work on another DE like Gnome? Maybe try asking on an arch Linux forum, DE's like Gnome or KDE shouldn't cause audio devices to become inaccessible.
Is it using pipewire for audio? Or pulseaudio and alsa?

It has worked before on arch although I was using i3-wm and it took some troubleshooting
