SUMMARY

When using steam to play video games the screen constantly flashes black for 5-20 seconds, then it shows the game which works, then it goes back to being black. Back and forth. This does not happen on gnome.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  Install steam
2.  Set the following in steam command: 

__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%

3) launch game

OBSERVED RESULT

frequent black screen

EXPECTED RESULT
works

KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.5

Qt Version: 6.7.2
Kernel Version: 6.10.10-gentoo-dist (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 32 × AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core Processor
Memory: 117.5 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics iGPU + Nvidia dGPU

Please attach the output of
> journalctl --user-unit plasma-kwin_wayland --boot 0
and
> sudo dmesg
here, after reproducing the issue.

Also, please check if you have adaptive sync enabled, and if disabling it changes anything.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay, real life got in the way. I will reinstall KDE on gentoo and get back to you by Monday. (but likely in 10-12 hours).

Yes, it is an issue with adaptive sync being enabled on HDMI.

If you still need the logs let me know and I will provide them, but it seems that disabling adaptive sync fixes it.
