Description Nikolaus Ringe 2024-09-12 14:17:43 UTC
After an Update of Win11 KDE causes the clipboard to not function normally. An empty entry gets created. Exiting KDE is the solution.
Comment 1 Filip 2024-09-12 14:40:58 UTC
Can you provide more information?

Are you running KDE apps on Windows, if so which ones. Does the clipboard not work on Linux distro with Plasma DE? What version of software do you use? The more info you can give will help in resolving the issue.

Thanks Filip! I updated it via the windows store which seemed to solve it.
Didn't look at the version number but it is a different version because it
came with adaptation to my windows design (dark). The former was white.

We can't help you with the provided information. What exactly did you updated via Windows store? What app are you talking about? Is it maybe KDE Connect?

Yes, it is KDE Connect. Sorry but I don't know of another...

Thanks, I will update the details of the ticket, but more information will be helpful for developer when they attempt to reproduce and fix the issue.

Can you find the app version
Can you write steps that you do to reproduce the issue
Can you screenshot KDE Connect settings on Windows
What Devices are you connecting to
What KDE Connect settings are on those devices

Yeah sure! The KDE Connect version which caused the problem was not
installed via windows store. It didn't adapt to the dark design of my win
11 installation. The new version with which the issue hopefully stays
solved adaptes to the dark design and is a fresh install from the windows
store.
I had connections to different android devices (12 pixel3a phone, 14 Xiaomi
tab 5, older Huawei tablet) as well as too win 11 devices (Aorus laptop+ ma
surface pro6 tablet). With all I tried to automatically share the clipboard
which wasn't (automatically) always possible as well as file sharing -
both randomly. The devices tried to automatically share the clipboard too
and the notifications. I think I set a passphrase for this.

On the ms surface 6 pro tablet after the latest os update I had no ctrl+c &
v . Ctrl X worked. After exiting the former KDE Connect version copy and
paste worked again instantly. Restarting the app had the same result - no
clipboard. In Windows clipboard history I had empty entries. I deactivated
the history but apart from losing my pinned pieces I didn't win it loose
anything after activating it again. Reboots in-between if course.

Attention Attention!
The bug is still there!
On my AORUS Laptop Win 11 with the Windows Store version of KDE Connect the
copy and paste function is gone (empty clipboard history entries). When I
exit KDR Connect everything works like before. I guess on my surface the
problem seemed to be gone because the fresh installation had no connections
to a device.
