SUMMARY

The (star) rating of the attached jpg file is corrently read by the program. Nevertheless, the "windows rating" is not indicated through 3 out of 5 stars in the user interface (as overlay of the thumbnail). Other files work fine. Even the RAW file from which this jpg is generated works correctly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the file
2. Watch the rating (the overlay of the thumbnail of the picture)

OBSERVED RESULT

Rating not displayed as expected

EXPECTED RESULT

Rating (3 out of 5 stars) dis displayed

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 11, latest updates

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The rating in the RAW file (Fujifilm raf) was created through digiCam 8.4.

The jpg was generated by DxO Photolab Elite v. 6.18

Fixed in digiKam-8.5.0.

Download pre-release version of digiKam-8.5.0 from here:

Note, for the images already imported, the metadata must be read from the image again.

Reloading the metadata resolves the issue. It is strange/unexpected, though, because the jpg file was new, although in the same folder and with the same file name as the pef RAW file.
Comment 5 Maik Qualmann 2024-09-08 19:30:21 UTC
There is a bug in digiKam-8.4.0 that the rating is not correctly imported into the database during the first scan. Yes, a re-read of the metadata helps. But only digiKam-8.5.0 fixes the problem - use it.
