Created attachment 173352 [details] Video demonstration SUMMARY If you enable the "Translucency" effect for "Inactive windows" and try to minimize a window that is out of focus, the minimized window remains on the screen without the possibility of interacting with it. The transition between desktops helps, I recorded it in the video. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open the "System Settings" 2. Go to "Window Management" => "Desktop Effects" 3. Turn on the "Translucency" effect and go to its settings 4. Set the transparency value for "Inactive windows" to below 100% 5. Open the program and focus on any other object 6. Minimize the open program without switching the focus to it. OBSERVED RESULT The window remains after collapsing and cannot be interacted with. This is clearly visible in the video. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: EndeavourOS KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.5.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 Kernel Version: 6.10.8-zen1-1-zen (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2640 v3 @ 2.60GHz Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 470 Graphics Operating System: Sisyphus 20240122 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.4.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.6.48-un-def-alt1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 5500 Manufacturer: Acer Product Name: Aspire E5-573G System Version: V3.72 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Make sure that you don't have "Focus follows mouse" enabled
Able to reproduce it. Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.5.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 Kernel Version: 6.10.7-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland
Also confirmed 100% reproducible. The only thing I would add is that turning the translucency effect off removes the ghost windows, so toggling the effect fixes the issue until you forget to focus then minimise next time.
Able to reproduce with X11 and nvidia as well, Operating System: Fedora Linux 41 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0 Qt Version: 6.8.1 Kernel Version: 6.12.11-200.fc41.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor Memory: 31.1 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. Product Name: MS-7D70 System Version: 1.0 This seems to be a regression of sorts, I didn't have it on the very same machine before updating to Fedora 41
And also reproducible on my intel notebook with only one screen, thus unrelated to graphic driver, X11 or Wayland and amount of screens. Operating System: Fedora Linux 41 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 Kernel Version: 6.12.11-200.fc41.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i5-8265U CPU @ 1.60GHz Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 620 Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 20NQS30W00 System Version: ThinkPad X390 Yoga

I can reproduce this with kcm_kwin_effects on git-master - Had two application windows open - Enabled Translucency - Minimized the non-focused window Result: Ghost image of the app remains that can't be interacted with
