STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enter edit mode
2. Add spacer
3. Make sure it is not flexible
4. Edit size of spacer
5. select the number using the mouse
6. begin typing
7. get confused as you are typing the panel height

OBSERVED RESULT
See step 7

EXPECTED RESULT
Type the value of the spacer's width

This is working for me on current git master. The UI has changed a lot in Plasma 6 and it's quite possible that the new Panel Edit Mode UI implicitly fixed the issue.
