SUMMARY The "Calibrate" button in the "Game Controller" menu is missing. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open system settings, then navigate to "Input and Output" and "Game Controller". 2. Click the "Help" button and observe that it directs you towards a button labeled "Calibrate". 3. Close the help menu and attempt to find the "Calibrate" button. OBSERVED RESULT No "Calibrate" button is present. EXPECTED RESULT A "Calibrate" button is present and would lead to a calibration menu if pressed. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240901 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.5.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I am unsure if this is a bug in system settings, or if the feature was intentionally removed and the documentation is simply out-of-date. I assumed that this being a bug was more likely.
AFAIK the feature was removed the the documentation is just out of date.
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > AFAIK the feature was removed the the documentation is just out of date. In the absence of this feature, the best way to calibrate looks like to use jstest-gtk. It's a shame that there doesn't seem to be a KDE app for controller calibration now that this button has been removed. This seems like a regression albeit an intentional one.
This seems counter-intuitive. I have an XBox One controller which actually does need calibration. Would not the in-built settings menu option for managing your game controllers be the place to do this? If the functionality existed, it seems odd to remove it.

I can 99% assure you the calibration functionality that previously existed wouldn't work for you anyway. I never used it personally, but what I can find online the legacy joystick API which it stuck calibration parameters into wouldn't affect modern games anyway. We have someone working towards adding a Steam-like gamepad emulation system into Plasma where we can perform the calibration there.
