Description Wayne E. Nail 2024-08-29 13:47:02 UTC
SUMMARY

kjots fails to start after dnf update 26 or 27 August 2024 with:

$ kjots: symbol lookup error: kjots: undefined symbol: _ZN5KMime7Content4sizeEv

[1]+ Exit 127 kjots

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Notice launching kjots from application launcher does animation and disappears
2. Enter 'kjots &' in konsole
3. Weep in despair as kjots completely fails to load

OBSERVED RESULT

kjots does not load. I can use KFind to search for contents of each note (every record is a separate file) in ~/.local/share/notes/<book directory name> and display that file in KMail Viewer but this is unacceptable.

EXPECTED RESULT

kjots loads normally and displays my laboriously constructed over decades notes.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 40 (Workstation)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.5.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All I want is a simple, unambitious note storage application. No fancy features, no integration with anything, completely portable, free-form without predefined fields, and *STABLE*. I have used and lost too many notes applications to count or remember, starting with the TSR Sidekick because I am *OLD*. Devs likely hate this concept because it is probably boring for them. Thus applications are serially abandoned in favor of the newest whiz kid's enthusiastic exploration of tools-du-jour.

This is a packaging issue, please report it to Fedora
