Very likely caused by https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/breeze-icons/-/commit/931fc4520ceb9ef44f367979d233f2b5bdd4bbb7. I experienced this as well while testing the merge request for it, until KIconThemes got a corresponding change: https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kiconthemes/-/commit/aa89a2ce9d873860f5a858edcd244dfb23241177. Then everything worked as intended for me. https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kiconthemes/-/commit/e6fa360255e3a5e9b449be7875904f851601f29e is also necessary. All of those commits should only be in KF6, though. The fact that you're experiencing this in KF5 is strange. At the moment my theory is that your distro backported https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/breeze-icons/-/commit/931fc4520ceb9ef44f367979d233f2b5bdd4bbb7 but not the other commits. Can you check that? Or contact them and see what they have to say about it?
There's a good chance you're right. I am using Debian unstable and currently Debian unstable is going through the migration process from KDE5 to KDE6. The package state is a mixture of KDE5 and KDE6. I I will wait until the Debian unstable migration is complete. I close this issue for now. Thanks again for your timely reply :)
