SUMMARY widget cant be dragged from a panel to the desktop. it works the other way (desktop -> panel) though, so one expects that it is working this way (panel -> desktop) too, but it does not. it is even worse: the widget disappears - but the widget counter in the "add widget menu" still counts it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. try to drag a widget attached to a panel from the panel (back) to the desktop in the "show panel configuration"-overview. OBSERVED RESULT widget disappears. surpisingly the widget counter in the "add widget" menu still counts it. EXPECTED RESULT the widget should either stay on the panel (when it is in fact for some reason impossible to actually move it back to the desktop) OR should be moved to the desktop correctly. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 40 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.5.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 Kernel Version: 6.10.6-200.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland ADDITIONAL INFORMATION actually, moving widgets from the panel to the desktop has been majorly flawed since the release of plasma 5. (i'm talking about plasma 6.1.4 now).
This should not happen. Could you provide a screen recording of the bug to assess what might be wrong?
Created attachment 173001 [details] screencap of notes widget disappearing yes, in the attached screen capture video you can see: 1. according to the counter bubble of the "add widget" menu there are supposedly 2 "notes" widgets already placed somewhere (except they are not, they disappered when i tried to move them to the desktop some time ago) 2. after placing the the "notes" widget i tried to move it to the desktop. that's where it suddenly disappeared. 3. after the notes widget disappeared the bubble counter increased to 3.
I understand. I'm afraid I need you to do one more step so I can understand what's going on: - Open Konsole, run `plasmashell --replace &> debug_info` Then, drag and drop a panel widget from the panel to the desktop. After that, close Konsole - this should "crash" your plasmashell session, start it again by opening krunner (alt+space) and typing `plasmashell` over there (or just reboot), and send me the debug_info file!
