SUMMARY
kde 6 will not autostart geary (unless it is run in a terminal)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. add geary to autostart apps
2. logout
3. login

OBSERVED RESULT
geary starts

EXPECTED RESULT
geary does not start

How exactly did you add Geary as an autostart entry? Can you be specific?

"Add application" in the autostart menu of the settings

Cannot reproduce with current git master of Plasma and Geary 46 from Flatpak. Were you trying to autostart the app as installed from a distro package? If so, can you try the Flatpak and see if that works?
