Description Pavel Dobiáš 2024-08-21 22:24:48 UTC
SUMMARY
When opening appimage executable by double clicking it in a directory, the system completely freezes for about 1-3 seconds, before running the application.
This doesn't happen when opening it through the console in Dolphin (F4 keyboard shortcut), or when opening it from other file managers, like Krusader. This also doesn't happen with any other executable file format.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a functional appimage executable ready in some directory.
2. Open the directory with the appimage in Dolphin.
3. Double click the appimage executable file.

OBSERVED RESULT
The system freezes for about 1-3 seconds, before opening the appimage executable.

EXPECTED RESULT
The appimage executable should immediately open, without freezing the system.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 40 KDE Spin
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.5.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2

Sometimes completely hangs the system with no way but restarting. This only started after updating 24.05 I think.

That's even worse than my case. I agree it must've been 24.05, because I also started observing this recently.

Seems to me like it might be the same bug.
