Created attachment 172680 [details] Screenshot of maximized notification window covering entire screen SUMMARY On one of my machines, KDE Plasma maximizes all windows even on large screen, even for windows that are meant kind of tiny. When I research this topic online I find guides to set up manual special rules to make this happen intentionally, which tells me this happening by default without special rules is probably not a bug. Sometimes it even maximizes the notification windows which suddenly covers the entire screen, although most of the time it's just all regular windows and dialogs (which is still rather jarring on a larger screen). Since this only happens on my postmarketOS machine it could be a packaging bug I suppose, I'm not seeing this on openSUSE. But it seems like the distribution people so far seem clueless as well as to what is causing this. Downstream ticket is here: https://gitlab.com/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/issues/3101 My apologies if this isn't KDE's fault. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install KDE Plasma 6, start Wayland session 2. Connect large external screen 3. Open any application like Firefox, Thunderbird, KWrite, ... OBSERVED RESULT Any window that opens, even about dialogs and other smaller popup dialogs, are maximized over the entire screen. EXPECTED RESULT Unless the screen is tiny to start with or the app was maximized last time at the time of being closed, windows shouldn't spawn maximized again. Correction: I meant to write: "which tells me this happening by default without special rules is probably a bug" I apologize for the confusion.
Under window behavior -> advanced in system settings, is "window placement" perhaps set to "maximized"?
It is. Is that meant to be the default? I assume that confirms packaging quirk or error. But is this "maximize" also meant to apply to the KDE desktop notifications? Should I leave the ticket open for that, or close it right away? My apologies for what seems to have been largely an invalid report from me.
I'll close this for now, assuming this is largely invalid. Sorry again.
The default is "centered". PostmarketOS probably overrides that. (In reply to Ellie from comment #3) > But is this "maximize" also meant to apply to the KDE desktop notifications? It should not do that
