Good morning. The same problem as always returns in this version 23.08. When updating Ubuntu from 22.04 to 24.04, the video thumbnail views disappear and the previous video folder views are not seen either. Can the previous version be downloaded? I had an old version installed on Ubuntu 22.04, which worked perfectly, but when I updated it uninstalled it.
Couple questions: - Does pressing F12 to toggle the previews on and off solve issue? - Can you see any other previews, like images? - Going to "configure dolphin" menu (default shortcut should be Ctrl+Shift+,) and in "Interface" section selecting "Previews" tab, is video files enabled?
Created attachment 172785 [details] attachment-1871124-0.html Good morning. F12 does nothing. Previews of images are visible and of any other type of file. NOT VIDEO. In Dolphin configuration NO BOX APPEARS TO ACTIVATE VIDEO PREVIEWS. I know that in old versions there was. I hope for a solution. Thank you. Hi, the last message you received was because I added myself to the cc list for this bug. That's why there was no other message. Please be patient, we will respond to you when we have more information.

Created attachment 175237 [details] Captura desde 2024-10-25 21-43-25.png Good morning. Well, the issue is very simple. Video thumbnails and video previews are not visible in the folder, at least on secondary drives. Image views are visible in both cases. [image: Captura desde 2024-10-25 21-44-06.png] [image: Captura desde 2024-10-25 21-43-25.png] In previous versions there was the possibility of configuring Dolphin to see them, but not in this new one. Created attachment 175598 [details] attachment-2529589-0.html Hello. What do you need more information about? The thumbnails and folder previews of videos are not displayed in this version of Dolphin. There is no way to configure it, since this option does not appear, which was the case in previous versions. The screenshots I sent show what I am saying. Let's see if it is fixed once and for all, or if there is some trick I can do to recover both options, because it is taking me forever to do my daily work. Nothing more, I am waiting for news. Hi, I set it from "needsinfo" to "reported" so that the bug wont be automatically closed. Now that I remember, one thing you could try though is that pressing F12 in dolphin toggles the previews on and off. Can you give that a try and report back here, if it helps at all?

Can you please check that the ffmpegthumbs package is installed? Perhaps the upgrade removed it for some reason. You can do this by opening up a terminal and running 'sudo apt install ffmpegthumbs'. It will install or tell you it is already installed.

I am not able to reproduce this bug on Plasma 6.2.5 with Dolphin 24.12.1 (on Solus) or Dolphin 23.08.5 (Kubuntu 24.04) I see a preview on a folder with mp4 files and for the file itself View - show previews - checked If I uncheck that, they disappear as expected To try to get more information about the issue on your system, can you run Dolphin from terminal and reproduce the problem? From command line just run dolphin Then navigate to your mp4 folder Then paste the output into a comment in this report. Thanks!

I see your new attachments with new screenshots. That's not what I'm asking for. After you run `dolphin` in your terminal, there should be some text output in your terminal Can you open the folders and then copy and paste the text from your terminal application where you have run dolphin? Thanks!
Can I also ask you how to look at Dolphin in Discover and tell me how it was installed? Mainly, I need to know if it's a snap or not. Run this in a terminal, and let me know if dolphin is in this list: snap list Thanks!

Thanks for the additional detail. From the output, Dolphin is indeed installed as a snap. I'll let someone more knowledgeable about Dolphin take it from here.
Adding Scarlett as this is a snap issue.
