Created attachment 172558 [details] screenshot SUMMARY After the latest update (end of July to early August) any stored cookies always disappear when Falkon is closed, i. e. no cookies remain stored between sessions. I have tried to re-install Falkon and tested the issue with the default browser settings - the result was the same. Browsing history and cache is not affected - those remain stored between the sessions. Falkon downloaded from snap-store. I have NOT tested the variant from system repositories. Version displayed in terminal is 24.05.2, but in 'Menu > About Falkon' it says "Application version 24.11.70 (f8f39e397)" Tested on two OS: 1. virtual machine Xubuntu 22.04 2. virtual machine Xubuntu 24.04 - this VM is installed on a different physical hardware than the first VM Before the above mentioned update, it all worked fine on the both machines. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. visit any website that saves cookies to your machine 2. close Falkon (snap-store version) 3. re-open Falkon and check the stored cookies OBSERVED RESULT all the cookies disappear when Falkon is restarted EXPECTED RESULT cookies are being kept when Falkon is restarted SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Xubuntu 22.04 Xubuntu 24.04 snapd and snap-store always kept up-to-date, currently: snapd 2.63 21759 latest/stable snap-store 0+git.e3dd562 1173 latest/stable/... I just tried Falkon flatpak and encountered the same issue. If I return to 23.08.5 version (snap) it works fine again. Looks like I'm the only one using snap/flatpak version of Falkon in GTK based DE on Ubuntu.
Hello, I am using ditro / system version of Falkon on Artix installed from repositories and also compiled and I am unable to reproduce this issue. The cookies are by default not being deleted. Are you using cookie whitelist or blacklist feature (could be I missed something there). I am unable to say anything about Snap or Flatpak version.
Thank you Juraj for looking into this. I expected that distro/system versions work normally as somebody would already notice such major issue. I don't use whitelist/blacklist feature. Today I reproduced the issue on completely clean installation with all the OS and browser settings left on default values: 1. downloaded Kubuntu 24.04 live disc 2. booted the live disc of Kubuntu and installed all the updates 3. installed the newest stable snap version of Falkon (24.05.2) 4. checked Falkon preferences and see that cookies are allowed and not deleted on close. Did not change any settings. 5. launched Falkon and visited few websites; before closing the browser window I verified in Cookies Manager that cookies from visited websites have been saved 6. closed Falkon, re-launched it again, checked Cookies Manager and seen that all the cookies have disappeared 7. afterwards I uninstalled the Falkon 24.05.2 and installed its older snap version 23.08.5 (candidate). Tested the cookies again and verified that it all works allright with version So this confirms that the issue with Falkon snap appears in KDE native environment as well. Furthermore, I repeated the steps above again with LinuxMint 21.3 live disc (Cinnamon) and flatpak version of Falkon. Again, all the OS and browser settings left on default values (verified that cookies are permanently allowed). And again, I encountered the issue. So, in summary it seems like Falkon flatpak/snap version 24.05.2 is being affected on any Ubuntu based system. In total, I already tried: Kubuntu 24.04 - snap LinuxMint 21.3 - flatpak Xubuntu 22.04 - tried both flatpak and snap Xubuntu 24.04 - snap
