This is a feature request. I was asked to post it here as a "bug". I recently tried out Aurora (https://getaurora.dev/), an immutable Linux distribution based on Universal Blue/Fedora Atomic Desktop, which is advertised as the "KDE version." However, I noticed that KDE Konsole is hidden by default, and instead, a Gnome-focused terminal called "Ptyxis" (https://gitlab.gnome.org/chergert/ptyxis) is used. I made a forum post (https://universal-blue.discourse.group/t/please-treat-kde-konsole-as-a-first-class-citizen-on-aurora-and-not-ptyxis/3321) requesting that Konsole be prioritized on this KDE-based distribution. The response was: > Until Konsole has a drop-down for distrobox images I see no reason to even consider it. ___ They’re referring to this feature: https://gitlab.gnome.org/chergert/ptyxis/-/raw/main/data/screenshots/containers-menu.png. Unfortunately, I don’t have the technical expertise to describe this feature request in detail, but it seems to involve deep integration between containers/Distrobox and the terminal. Could something like this be added to Konsole? Thank you.
Just to add to the discussion. Here is a video showcasing the features of Ptyxis (formerly Prompt) mentioned here. Hope it helps in better understanding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeUH1_fFSUs While I personally do not benefit from container based workflow and don't use Ptyxis, this functionality seems to be quite popular among developers. It pains me that Konsole is regarded as "second class citizen" because of lack of such functionality. I wonder if this functionality can be reproduced "Quick Commands" plugin already present in Konsole?
