Description Hans Matthew 2024-08-04 18:42:22 UTC
Application: plasmashell (6.1.3)
 (Compiled from sources)
Qt Version: 6.7.2
Frameworks Version: 6.4.0
Operating System: Linux 6.10.2-202.fsync.fc40.x86_64 x86_64
Windowing System: Wayland
Distribution: Nobara Linux 40 (KDE Plasma)
DrKonqi: 6.1.3 [CoredumpBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
I recently installed the Nobara distribution on my PC. After the initial installation, I used the "Update my system" option from the welcome app to update the system. Once the update was complete, I restarted my PC. Upon logging back in, the desktop was entirely black except for the Nobara welcome window.

I also received an error message stating that plasmashell had closed unexpectedly. I tried restarting plasmashell, but the issue persisted. Now, each time I log in, the same plasmashell crash message appears, and the process of gathering crash information fails to complete. I also tried suggested actions like reinstalling packages and restoring Plasma settings, but without success.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

This is a broken Nobara update. You can find more information, including a link to a reddit thread that contains a fix, in the linked bug report.
