SUMMARY
I created a symbolic link to a version of NRF Connect for Desktop v4.4.1 from Nordic Semiconductors, found here: https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-tools/nRF-Connect-for-Desktop/Download#infotabs
The task manager would crash, and be completely unresponsive. Removing the link removed the problem entirely.

I haven't had time to go any further into detail than this, as I am doing this at work. Thought it was worth a report anyways.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a link to a .appimage file, with ln -s ...
2. Place in /home/[user]/Desktop
3. Use normally until freeze

OBSERVED RESULT
Repeated freezes at seemingly random times. I believe using the link also caused freezes.

EXPECTED RESULT
Repeated freezes at seemingly random times.

What specifically freezes? Just the Task Manager? The whole panel? The panel and the desktop too? Apps as well?

And ahat symptoms of the issue brought you to the conclusion that the symlink caused the freeze? have you tried removing the symlink and seeing if the freeze goes away? If so, does it come back if you re-add the symlink?

Hi Nate, I'll add some clarification, sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
No, apps do not crash, VS Code and Firefox for example are perfectly usable, but the dektop, task manager, start menu and so on all froze. If I understand this correctly, plasmashell froze. Dolphin also froze.

I checked my bash history, and seems I forgot the -s option and made a hard link. I've placed a new hard link on my desktop, and I'll report back.
