SUMMARY When opening a file with Krita without Krita being opened beforehand, no image layer is selected by default, thus a lot of menu items are greyed out and you'd think the image was opened read-only. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. close Krita or don't have it open in the first place 2. Terminal: `krita 'filename'` or File Explorer(Nautilus in my case): Image → 'Open with...' → Krita OBSERVED RESULT Image opens but with no layer selected, so many menu items are greyed out (e.g. in 'Image' only 'Trim to Image Size' and 'Rotate' seem available. See attachment in Bug 489404 for an example. EXPECTED RESULT Image opens with a layer preselected for Image features to be available. (or make the features available without layer selected if that makes any sense) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: EndeavourOS aka.
