*** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Choose a SDDM theme in Systemsettings > Colors & Design > SDDM login screen 2. Apply it and reboot 3. Reaching the Login screen no SDDM theme is displayed, only the default KDE screen OBSERVED RESULT No chosen SDDM theme in Login screen. Some error messages appear in the right lower screen. These are: ' file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/MacVentura-Dark/Main.qml:119:9: Type WallpaperFader unavailable' ' file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/MacVentura-Dark/components/WallpaperFader.qml:13:1: module "org.kde.plasma.private.sessions" is not installed Note: It affects not only MacVentura-Dark, but nearly all SDDM themes. MacVentura-Dark is only an example to show. EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Plasma 6 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.3.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This bug (or not) is present in Plasma 6 since the first release of Plasma 6 in February 2024. At the beginning only a few sddm themes could be displayed as login background. I've tried all possible. An "org.kde.plasma.private.sessions" as well as other packages found under "import" in WallpaperFader.qml cannot be found in the Manjaro Repos or Arch Repos. I installed similar packages, but that didn't help either. Kdeplasma-addons or sddm-kcm are installed in Manjaro. What I detected in "WallpaperFader.qml" is, that the packages under "import" could be Plasma 5 packages and that these packages have not been ported to Plasma 6 yet. Perhaps that is the cause of the issue.
sddm is not a KDE project, report issues to https://github.com/sddm/sddm
(In reply to Antonio Rojas from comment #1) > sddm is not a KDE project, report issues to https://github.com/sddm/sddm I didn't know that SDDM doesn't belong to KDE. But sddm_kcm is a plasma project, isn't it? A weird KDE world. Therefore I don't believe anymore in the future of KDE. The downfall of that desktop environment has begun with Plasma 6. I see problems, problems, problems everywhere. Therefore I've taken a decision. I'll use for the next months Linux Mint with the KDE version and when nothing happens in KDE that I can get back all my elements to build my MacOs-Layout again, as I was used to in Plasma 5, I will leave Linux forever and will switch over to MacOs that is 100 percent more stable than Linux is and was. In MacOs I also can use opensource software, that is for me the positive highlight in Linux, contrary to the desktop environments. A history of hundreds of bugs the last 8 years in Linux, even in so-called "stable" desktops. I could write a book about all these bugs I encountered the last 8 years, that let me not work fully with these Linux systems.
