It crash in Exiv2 shared library, not digiKam. Please try with last 8.4.0 Linux appimage bundle just published : https://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/8.4.0/ Gilles Caulier
I suspect a package problem. OpenSUSE Leap 15.6 shipped with digiKam.8.2.0. You are probably using an "Extra" repository for digiKam-8.3.0. Probably the Exiv2 version does not match the digiKam package. Maik
Created attachment 173561 [details] Still crashes on launch of DK - latest updates on Leap 15.6 Trying to help on how to clear this crash launch issue and get DigiKam working
Exiv2 crashes with an image whose Exif comment value is invalid for Exiv2. You have to find the corresponding image and remove it from the collection. Or use a more recent digiKam version, since we now decode the Exif comment with our own code. Bug 480345 Bug 481735 Maik
To identify the image that causes the crash, start digiKam in the terminal with the debug environment variable set. Please post the last lines that are output after the crash. Maybe you can provide the image in question so that we can test it here. -------------------------------------------------------------------- export QT_LOGGING_RULES="digikam*=true" digikam -------------------------------------------------------------------- Maik

Hi, digiKam 8.6.0 is just released: https://www.digikam.org/news/2025-03-15-8.6.0_release_announcement/ Problem still exists with this version? Thanks in advance Gilles Caulier
