Our search infrastructure in the weather backend code could use some improvements, yes. In fact, we just recently discussed in the Matrix #vdg chat how there is no way to differentiate two cities with the same name within one country. Could you give us some examples, which cities were you looking for, and were not able to select? According to my observations, Android (Google Pixel Weather report app) shows the state/region code or name as well, so that might help. By the way, when reporting bugs, open "About this System" page in System Settings, and use the Copy Details (in English) button there. Otherwise we might not know what the "6(latest)" means. Thanks for the extended information. It was much helpful. This looks unfortunately like an upstream issue with the wetter.com provider. It correctly reports the several locations using the web search (https://www.wetter.com/suche/?q=fuyang) But, when using the search API, it just returns the one district that's shown in the applet: https://api.wetter.com/location/index/search/fuyang/project/weatherion/cs/3ab549b6e7eef381b9a1e8d98f25f9a8

Use instead the location code as the key for the different maps, so this is unique, and different places with the same name and country doesn't get merged into one. The format of the weather "source" string is not changed ("wettercom|weather|<place>|<code>;<displayName>") so that current user's configs do not break.
