The screen shows glitched artifacts before attempting to boot the desktop, shortly failing thereafter.
Startup applications and applications last ran since logout are not affected by this.

Attempting to restart plasmashell has a chance of blacking out the system entirely.

You shouldn't be in here unless you've been meddling with settings. kcmshsell6 qtquicksettings and change the render type back to Auto

I reverted the setting which only made the crashes occur less frequently. I solved the issue by reinstalling a non-immutable distribution.
