Description greenscarf005 2024-07-07 13:29:51 UTC
SUMMARY

on KDE 5, Capture Window Under Cursor captured window under cursor immediately.
on KDE 6, it asks to click at window first, then it captures screen.

This change is cumbersome to use as the 1-step action has become 2-step for seemingly no noticeable gain (since you point at cursor before activating it via keyboard shortcut). Could we get the old behavior back?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open spectacle
2. activate "Capture Window Under Cursor"

OBSERVED RESULT

it asks to click a window to capture.

EXPECTED RESULT

it captures window under cursor immediately like the one shipped with KDE 5.

I'm afraid this is a technical change required by the underlying Wayland platform. The UI has since been changed to say "Select window" which at least makes the workflow obvious.
