SUMMARY I own a PNY 4090 graphics card which is currently hooked up to a Denon 3800X receiver with a 5.1.2 speaker configuration layout. After having noticed that something seemed a bit off with the audio I pulled up the panel under configure audio devices. All the speakers seem to be working just fine except for the subwoofer which is barely audible even when the volume has been turned all the way up. Given that these speakers have already been calibrated and everything works as expected in Windows I suspect there may be an issue with how the volume is being adjusted. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. plug Warrky 4K DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter into one of the GPU's display ports 2. plug adapter directly into the Denon 3800H receiver 3. Navigate to "Configure Audio Devices" 4. Click Test 5. Verify that all speakers are audible with the exception of Subwoofer 6. Lean in close to subwoofer with volume turned up as far as possible. OBSERVED RESULT The subwoofer is barely audible in comparison to windows. EXPECTED RESULT You should be able to hear the subwoofer SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 11 macOS: N/A Linux/KDE Plasma: 6.1 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.3.0 Qt Version: 6.7.1 Additional Information: Possibly Related: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445523 --------- The difference being that it technically "works" but the volume is "extremely" low.
Just a quick update. I've turned all of the other speakers down and increased sub woofer volume to 150% and I can not hear anything come out of these subwoofers. They are completely silent.
Turns out that this issue only affects the "test" which can be run from the Sound panel beneath System Settings. As described previously, audio from the subwoofer is extremely low in comparison to the other speakers. So low in fact that I was under the impression they where not working. However, I've just confirmed that this this is not the case by watching a few movies. The subwoofer is definitely working. I'm going to leave this ticket open because it still doesn't seem that there is a test within KDE which gives users the false impression that their speakers are not working properly.
