Created attachment 171351 [details] A video showing plasmashell constantly freezing SUMMARY Recently, Plasmashell has started constantly freezing, usually triggered when interacting with a panel or the desktop. It seems using any sort of desktop effect like Overview or bringing up a panel on another screen unfreezes it... until it freezes again in a few seconds. This only occurs on the Wayland session. It works fine on the X11 session. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Interact with any widgets on a panel (not required but triggers it faster) OBSERVED RESULT The plasmashell process freezes. EXPECTED RESULT I would expect plasmashell to not freeze. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: CachyOS Linux (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.3.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This started a few days before the release of Plasma 6.1.1, so it seems 6.1 didn't directly start this issue. Kernel: 6.9.7-2-cachyos-bore-lto NVIDIA Driver Version: 555.58.02
Hm I wonder if this is Nvidia issue, since on my AMD system I have had nothing like this. Operating System: Fedora Linux 40 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.4.0 Qt Version: 6.7.1 Kernel Version: 6.9.7-200.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6600

After further review and experimentation, it seems I was using the git version of Arch's egl-wayland package. I tested this issue with the base egl-wayland package, and it worked fine. I switched back to the git version, and the issue occurred again. I'm sorry to waste anyone's time. I'll close this now.
