SUMMARY Before Plasma 6 update (in Plasma 5, that is), window switching is very smooth. When I hit the shortcut (Meta+Tab), the switcher would fade in instantly. Releasing Meta key fades out the switcher. But after Plasma 6 update: 1) There's a delay (~300ms) before the switcher shows up and current window get switched; 2) No fade in animation any more, the switcher shows up without animation; 3) Sometimes the switcher won't show up until I hit Tab again, or release Meta key. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Just play with the switcher OBSERVED RESULT As described in SUMMARY EXPECTED RESULT Should be as smooth as in Plasma 5 SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.3.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm using Xorg by the way, not tested on Wayland because my graphic card isn't compatible with Wayland.
Does this happen only when using the Thumbnail Grid switcher, or does it happen with all of them?
All others look good, except Large Icons, Flip Switch and Cover switch, they seem to be missing some animation when they are invoked, not sure if it's intentional, I will describe what I see below. In addition I found another bug when testing Large Icons, will report it later. Large Icons: Seems to be missing fade in effect. When shortcut is hit, the switcher shows up without any animation. When shortcut is released, there's a fade out effect. Flip Switch: Same as above, no fade in effect, though I can see the "slides" moving when the switcher shows up. Cover Switch: Same as above, no fade in effect, but I can see the covers moving when the switcher shows up.
Ok, those are all different issues. The brief lag/freeze with Thumbnail Grid is Bug 479250. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 479250 ***

I don't need to move my mouse continuously to reproduce my bug, and my screen doesn't freeze during the delay of my Thumbnail Grid switcher (I can see the clock on my KDE panel ticking). And plus moving my mouse continuously...actually cannot reproduce 479250.
