Hi, In KDEnlive I need a way to add the file's original date AND time of record. For example I got a video back in 2018.01.08, starting at 08:34:36 and currently there's no way to do this with any of the effects... #timeframe# just simply counts from 00:00:00 as the video starts.. and filedate or whats that called only reads the file's modification date, but not the H:M:S.. Need a way to add custom start dates, so the dynamic text will start from a specific fixated time, that the user inputs
Hi. The dynamic text effect would benefit from some documentation. You can in fact print the original file's date and time by inputing this in the text field: #createdate %D %H:%M:%S# There is however no way to add an arbitrary offset currently.
Git commit 06d4dd408fef5e57492a6c26b4070de5cef4c3a5 by Jean-Baptiste Mardelle. Committed on 25/06/2024 at 18:57. Pushed by mardelle into branch 'master'. Add createdate to dynamic text keywords and some tooltip info M +3 -2 data/effects/dynamictext.xml https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/commit/06d4dd408fef5e57492a6c26b4070de5cef4c3a5

Hi thanks for putting effort in this. It is almost good however with this #createdate %D %H:%M:%S# trick the time is perfectly shown but its static. What I meant is that I need it to change each second as the video goes by. So for example it starts at creation date of say 12:11:07 and while im playing, it should increment each second as the video passes by each second, 12:11:08.. 12:11:09 and so on - and so on. :)
hi developers, so any plans of implementing arbitary timestamp that dynamically changes with the video counting from the creation timestamp? :)
bumping this :)
Once we have implemented the feature to set the arbitrary start time of the timeline you can enter the start date and time of your video clip. The Dynamic Text effect would then show the "correct" time. Please note that this only works if there are no cuts ;-) All effects/filters available in Kdenlive are created by the teams behind mlt, frei0r, and avfilter. If you want changes to an effect, you have to contact the respective team.

Sorry but I'm confused now, I can't see any @kde related next to your name or email. Contact the respective team? Well I've already contacted them here, please don't say something that it's already done.. And why you changed status to NEEDSINFO?! In what? Please stop changing the ticket states to nonsense, thank you.

If you want the MLT team to add the ability to enter an arbitrary start date and time for the timecode counter, you have to contact them on their github page - they do NOT use the KDE bug tracker here. The answer you got from Jean-Baptiste (he is the main developer of Kdenlive) was certainly encouraging for you but did not solve your problem. So, all I was saying was that you need to contact the MLT team. Even though my email doesn't have any reference to KDE, I am part of the core team of Kdenlive. I know that there is a feature being worked on that would allow the user to enter a timecode for the timeline to start with (today it is 00:00:00:00, but with this feature you can enter 12:34:56:00 if you so desire). It is not exactly what you need but perhaps a workaround until you have asked MLT to add more functionality to their Dynamic Text effect. Lastly, I changed the ticket status to play back the ball to you and elicit a reaction. This is for housekeeping purposes so that the list of bug reports is more manageable, and as such it is far from "nonsense".

Closing this for now, I will contact them on KDE invent later on.

If you want to contact the Kdenlive team: please do so here. If you want to contact the MLT team: they are not on KDE invent but on github (https://github.com/mltframework/mlt). Thanks for your understanding and cooperation ...
