Created attachment 170732 [details] The device names are the same now SUMMARY With plasma 6.1, the names for audio devices was changed. If an audio device has multiple audio inputs it doesn't differentiate anymore. For example I have a Scarlett Solo and on KDE 6.0.5 I could clearly see the audio input for my guitar / line-in and audio input for my microphone. On KDE 6.1 it just shows Scarlett Solo USB and Scarlett Solo USB. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open audio devices via the tray 2. See that the audio devices are wrong OBSERVED RESULT It is not differentiated from another similar input on the same device. EXPECTED RESULT That it shows exactly the name of the device according to the input. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 40 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.3.0 Qt Version: 6.7.1 Kernel Version: 6.9.4-200.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor Memory: 31.1 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Manufacturer: ASUS
Created attachment 170734 [details] Alsamixer shows the name correctly Opening alsamixer it shows the correct line 1 and line 2 strings, so it's not something to do with the Kernel.
Created attachment 170735 [details] On KDE 6.0.5 it works correctly I've just booted into my KDE 6.0.5 instance (thanks kinoite). As you can see, there correct names are displayed here. Here are the diffs between my boots: https://pastebin.com/raw/6UhTx0xX
