SUMMARY Some shortcuts that previously used Alt+Mouse Click, such as Alt+Left Mouse to drag a window, or Alt+Right Mouse to resize, have now switched to Meta+Mouse Click. I think before there was a way to configure this modifier key, as I believe Meta became the default recently, but with Plasma 6.1.0 I cannot find a way to configure this, so I am (possibly incorrectly ;-)) assuming the configuration option for this has been taken out. In Plasma 6.0.5 and below, I was able to use the Alt key for this functionality, and have done so for many years. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Move Window shortcut is now enforced as Meta+Left Click 2. Resize Window shortcut is now enforced as Meta+Right Click 3. Previously these shortcuts were either by default or configurable to use "Alt" as the modifier, but now the default has been set to Meta with seemingly no way to change this. OBSERVED RESULT Move Window shortcut is now enforced as Meta+Left Click. Resize Window shortcut is now enforced as Meta+Right Click EXPECTED RESULT Plasma should have respected the user defaults, and should allow the option to change this modifier key if the functionality has indeed been removed (or if it was never there to begin with and my memory is just not good :-)) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 6.9.5 Linux Zen KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.3.0 Qt Version: 6.7.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Using the Wayland Session, I did not check X11.
In fact this changed from Alt to Meta years ago, no idea why you're just now seeing it. Anyway, you can configure this in System Settings > Window Management >"Window Actions" tab.
Thanks! I wonder why this suddenly changed for me. I recently did a fresh install of endeavourOS with Plasma 6.0.5 on a laptop and I think the default was set to Alt, and when updating to Plasma 6.1.0 it was changed to Meta as well...
