*** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0. (Use as a virtual machine guest required?) 1. Log in with X11 (not Wayland) 2. Open application menu and type and 3 letters. One or two is fine, but three always freezes 3. OBSERVED RESULT System freezes for an indeterminate period. Even Ctrl+Alt+3 doesn't respond. Doesn't feel like two minutes, but probably is based on this error from `journalctl -xe`: It seems to occur whenever the freeze occurs. `[session uid=1000 pid=2460] Failed to activate service 'org.kde.runners.baloo': timed out (service_start_timeout=120000ms)` also seen once: `[session uid=1000 pid=2460] Failed to activate service 'org.kde.krunner': timed out (service_start_timeout=120000ms)` EXPECTED RESULT Application searches don't freeze the system. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 24.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.11 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Worked fine on Kubuntu 23.10 PS: Sorry I think I filed this in the wrong place. I couldn't find the right component so I chose the closest.
I fear I may have accidentally changed the assignee with a misclick. The history shows not, but I wouldn't want this to get detailed as a result.
