SUMMARY
When using a normal unix user, it does not seem to do weird things, but under systemd-homed sometimes it doesn't show up, sometimes it does but it's broken (see attachment).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create systemd-homed user
2. Place the trash .desktop file into the desktop
3. Poke it

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS 
Linux: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1

We don't officially support systemd-homed, so any issues you find are a "buyer beware" type of thing. :)

It's possible that using systemd-homed only coincidentally triggers this and the root cause is Bug 485771 which is fixed in Frameworks 6.4.
