*** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY Catastrophic handling for Documents STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. take 1 document with two sides 2. enable "ADF Duplex" 3. Scan automatically OBSERVED RESULT A whole document with n pages is only reproduced in N(n) partial documents! a wonderfull MESS for ONE document! Every second page is turned at 180 degrees. All options to reunite the DESTROYED DOCUMENT with pdfunite or pdfsam are failing to join these pages to ONE normal document! EXPECTED RESULT ONE Document sanned, ONE document OUTPUT and WITHOUT any turned pages and in a regualar ORDER WHY is THIS NOT possible! - I am feeling like an ape in the dschungel - for me such a soft is a bloody RUBBISH SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 22.04 LTS (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Who changed this software what had in older versions NOT these idiotic problems!
The problem to join the pages in the right order and not every second page turned at 180 ° seems not possible to resolve - Nor if the document x is turned up or down the result is turned down!
1) What scanner do you have? 2) What does partial mean here? half a page or a quarter of a page or what? 3) The sane-backend that you are using scans the page from the bottom up and does not do the rotation. There might be an option to rotate every second page, but it is possible that it is in a newer version of Skanlite/libksane. 4) I think it would be more productive to use Skanpage for multi-page document scanning. There you have tools to rotate and reorder pages and then save them as a multi-page-PDF. Skanlite was and is geared towards scanning images and the document scanning is left to Skanpage which is specialized for that. https://apps.kde.org/fi/skanpage/ https://snapcraft.io/skanpage Note that there has been quite a lot of development especially in Skanpage since 2022, when your LTS distribution was released and the version frozen. You could try the Snap or flatpack version of SKanpage (hoping that it has the scanner backend that you need)
(In reply to Kåre Särs from comment #2) > 1) What scanner do you have? Canon Pixma MX 725 > 2) What does partial mean here? half a page or a quarter of a page or what? It means that one dokument - contract - what I am scanning with n pages automatically is coming out not with ONE Docuent- means FILE but with n files! A contract with n pages is coming out not in ONE file but in N-files! > 3) The sane-backend that you are using scans the page from the bottom up and > does not do the rotation.
